Chris van der Drift through the streets of Cardiff and in Dutch TV-show

AMSTERDAM, 13 November 2010 – A busy schedule for Chris van der Drift. The race driver will demonstrate the Superleague Formula car through the streets of Cardiff this Saturday before he travels to Holland where he will attend the Dutch TV-show Holland Sport on Monday evening 15 November. The 24 year old Dutch Kiwi will highlight his season in Superleague Formula and will talk about his horrifying crash in August. Due to the incident, Van der Drift broke several bones but recovered amazingly fast. Therefore he was able to complete the season during the last round in October.

Chris van der Drift is BACK after horror accident

MILTON KEYNES, 20 October 2010 - Chris van der Drift returns in Superleague Formula with Galatasaray during this weekend’s final round at Circuito de Navarra in Spain. The 24-year old driver was absent during four rounds while he recovered from his horrifying 252 kilometer per hour crash on August 1st at Brands Hatch. “I want to come back fast”, said a determined Van der Drift.

Chris van der Drift recovering and intends strong comeback

MILTON KEYNES, 10 August 2010 – It could have been a deadly crash. Race driver Chris van der Drift was launched into the air at 252 km/hour at the English circuit of Brands Hatch. The 24 year old New Zealander, racing in the Superleague Formula by Sonangol, hit an overhead access bridge during his flight on Sunday August 1st, the race car bursting in flames for a short time spinning numerous times before coming to rest several hundred metres further in the middle of the race track. Everyone held their breath. There was nothing left of the car bearing the colours of the famous Greek football club, Olympiacos. It is a wonder that the Kiwi survived with just some broken bones.

Chris van der Drift injured after major accident at Brands Hatch

MILTON KEYNES, 1 August 2010 – Chris van der Drift has escaped from his horrifying crash during the second race of Superleague Formula at Brands Hatch on Sunday. The 24 year old Dutch Kiwi was in pursuit to take fifth place when he touched – at top speed – wheels with his rival. Chris’s Olympiacos car was catapulting into the air and was completely destroyed after hitting a bridge. The driver is lucky to be alive and was shortly transported to hospital in Dartford.

Superb Van der Drift grabs Zolder pole and race one win

ZOLDER, Belgium, 18 July 2010 –  New Zealander Chris van der Drift has picked up his fourth win of the season at the Zolder circuit in Belgium on Sunday. The 24 year old Kiwi gave a superb performance in Saturday’s qualifying sessions coming out of the qualifying rounds with pole position, following that up with a start to finish victory in Sunday’s race one.  The Olympiacos driver gained enough points in the two feature races to give himself pole for the Super Final in which he finished in second place. Van der Drift takes second Super Final win in seven days

NURBURG, 27 June 2010 – For the second time in seven days, New Zealand driver Chris van der Drift has won the Superleague Formula by Sonangol super final. Just as at the last rounds super final at Jarama in Spain a week earlier, the 24 year old Kiwi driving for Greek football club Olympiacos had a brilliant start from fourth place in the weekends Super Final at the Nurburgring, diving down the middle of front row starters AC Milan and Galatasaray and leading into turn one.

JARAMA, Spain, 20 June 2010 – Kiwi driver Chris van der Drift has today won the Super Final race of the Superleague Formula by Sonangol on the Spanish circuit of Jarama. The impressive 24 year old Superleague by Sonangol rookie, driving for Greek club Olympiacos, grabbed the lead out of turn one and kept it to the end of the race increasing his first lap lead of 2 seconds to over 4 ½ seconds at the finish flag. “Winning the super final is really fantastic!”, said a jubilant Van der Drift.

Yet again podium for van der Drift in Superleague Formula

NEVERS, 23 May 2010 – After taking a race win last week at the Dutch TT Circuit of Assen, series rookie Chris van der Drift has once again made the podium, this time in the third round of the Superleague Formula by Sonangol at the French circuit of Magny Cours, the 24 year old New Zealander taking third place in race one. A gearbox problem in race two meant the Olympiacos driver was forced to retire, also precluding the Kiwi from participating in the Super Finale.

Chris van der Drift wins in Race 2 at Assen

ASSEN, May 16 2010 – Kiwi driver Chris van der Drift has taken a win in the second race of the Superleague Formula by Sonangol during the championships second race weekend of the 2011 season. At the TT Circuit Assen, the New Zealander got off to a great start and with a lightning quick pit stop by the Olympiacos team all van der Drift had to do was bring the 750hp car to the finish line to secure his first victory. Qualifying in sixth position for the first race the 24-year-old kiwi was in a great position for the opening race, and with an excellent start passed AC Milan to take fifth, but then quickly hit bad luck with a gearbox failure that forced the Olympiacos car out of the race. "Early on I found it difficult to change down gears and then finally they stopped all together and I was stuck in 4thgear“, explained van der Drift "I could do nothing but retire.”

Sensational Superleague Formula Debut

SILVERSTONE, 4 April 2010 – Chris van der Drift completed a superb opening weekend in Superleague Formula at the English circuit of Silverstone, finishing a fine second place in race two, and picking up a very nice third placed finish in the Super Final. The 24 year old New Zealander was competing for the Olympiacos team in his very first outing in the 750hp v12 powered Superleague Formula car, picking up third place and prize money in the six car Super Final, a five lap race for the six best performing drivers of the weekend.
